The Love in a Mist quilt block is an easy block for beginners with only half square triangles, square in a square and square patches. This traditional style block was originally done with only a light and a dark or medium colored fabric. I had to do my own thing so I added in another color. Additionally, the center star could be a fourth color. Let’s get started!
Fabric Requirements for a 12″ Finished Love in a Mist Quilt Block:
Light/Gold: 1 – 4.5″ square, 4 – 3″ squares, and 20 – 2.5″ squares
Medium/Orange: 4 – 3″ squares, and 4 – 2.5″ squares
Dark/Black: 4 – 4.5″ squares

Half Square Triangle Units:
Step 1:
Using the four Light/Gold 3″ squares and the four Medium/Orange 3″ squares sew together eight Half Square Triangle (HST) units as shown in the picture below. Trim/square up the HSTs to 2.5″ square.
